Amateur Radio Station VE3EFC
My home-brew hex beam was installed on June 30, 2006.
It is designed for triband 10/15/20 meter bands.
One unusual feature is the three bands connect at a common feed point.
I have been very happy with the performance on all 3 bands.
The fishing rod construction and 1 inch floor flange mounting
are showing lots of flexing in gusty winds.
I have some doubts the construction will be able to
withstand the first strong wind storm.

Note how all three bands driven elements taper to a single feed point.
The reflector elements mimic the sloping driven elements.

Hub is 24 inch circle of 3/4 inch plywood.
The one inch floor flange always trying to unscrew
the pipe thread in the wind.

Plastic rings are links cut from a plastic chain.
Four snap ties worked better than just two.
These were glued into place after final tuning.

Fishing rods are 13 foot crappy purchased from Cabelos.
They were on sale only $7.99 each.
12 inch wood dowels were inserted into the handles,
and soft tubing provides padding for the U bolts.

Rotator is from Radio Shack.
Galvanized iron mast rotates inside PVC sleeve.
Tower is 8 foot 2 x 6 wood plank.
